DEVELOPING & PRESENTING A FILM THAT'S ATTRACTIVE FOR INVESTORS

In this section we’ll discuss what you and your film should have to maximise your chance of acquiring any funding, whether you’re applying for the BFI film fund, pitching to private investors, trying to get a pre-sale deal or trying to claim a UK Tax credit. We'll discuss what makes a film more or else "fundable" in 2023, at what stage you should start applying for different types of funding and what you can expect to present when pitching your film. We'll discuss the importance of pitch decks, budgets, sales projections and how to impress investors and funding bodies.

NATIONAL, LOCAL & GRANT FUNDING

BFI Film Fund: Dionne will be discussing the ins and out of applying for the BFI film fund. She will outline what type of project are more likely to gain funding and how to maximise your chances during the process

Local Funding: When should you apply for local funding and how can you pool different pots of funding together to source the budget for your film.

Grants: How are grants different to other types of funding? How do you acquire and expand your connections to successfully apply and gain funding through grants?

PRIVATE INVESTORS AND PRE-SALES

PRIVATE INVESTORS: Have you ever wondered how to find and approach private investors? And once you find one what are they actually looking for? What can you expect when you manage to book in a pitch session with an investor and how should you prepare? At what stage should you even start to look for one? We'll cover all of this in a hyper-focused session on finding and securing private investment for film.

PRE-SALES: We'll explain how pre-sales work from a legal perspective and what to look out for. We'll also discuss some of the most effective strategies for approaching sales agents and locking in a pre-sale deal.

Do you want a 20% discount on your film's budget? Then the UK tax credit us the way to go! In this section we'll discuss how tax incentives work in the UK, how to apply for them and what the requirements are. We'll also discuss international tax credits and who they work.

LOANS & DEBT FINANCING

In this talk with Stuart Woodward we will hear about the finance and banking side of applying for loans to fund finalise funding for your film productions. We'll discuss what exactly Stuart and banks look for when assessing projects and whether they will accept a loan. We'll also discuss how this type of financing works as well as what the benefits and potential issues are.
